With a full-Array LED backlight, luminance can be controlled with greater precision than with a CCFL backlight because of the differences in intensity control properties. Compared to the modulation rate of a typical CCFL backlight, the Full-Array LED backlight is capable of modulating down to an unbelievable rate. Through the combined operation of Sharp’s X-Gen panel and Sharp’s Full-Array LED backlight system, AQUOS LE and LB series LCD TVs achieve an ultra-high contrast ratio that delivers unprecedented degrees of black and images that project incredible depth. |

X-Gen Panel
incorporated into the LE700 and LB700 series enables improved light control with reduced light leakage, allowing more light to pass through the panel with a wider aperture ratio for higher peak brightness
Brilliant LEDs
Sharp's Full-array LED backlight provides a wider range of brightness than is possible with conventional CCFL backlights, providing reproduction of more vivid colours with lower power consumption
Crystal Clear Technology
Conventional panels diffuse light at the surface, resulting in reduced picture intensity and compromised black levels. Sharp’s new Crystal Clear technology deflects light at nearly equal intensity, drawing it away from the screen and achieving deep black levels.
Mega Contrast
Through the combined operation of Sharp’s X-Gen Panel and Ultra Brilliant LED backlight system, LE700 and LB700 series achieve an ultra-high dynamic contrast ratio that delivers unprecedented degrees of black and images with incredible depth.

As a technology company with an environmental approach, Sharp produces innovative LED products like LED lamps and solar-powered street lights with integrated LEDs. This year, Sharp presents the LED backlight – the next generation in Sharp AQUOS LCD TVs. Due to this innovative technology, the image is even sharper, the colours are more brilliant and the ecological characteristics are better than conventional LCD TV.
Sharp has further strengthened its efforts towards making the new LE and LB series. To achieve that goal, four superior ecological features and additional ecological features are built into this series.
- LED Backlight Structure. Sharp is utilising a Full-Array LED system - the position of the LED backlight is directly behind the panel which makes the distance from the LED light source to the screen shorter. This reduces the light required to view the same picture, reducing power consumption.
- Eco Picture Control. Analysing the picture signal to optimally control the backlight brightness and picture quality produces a high-quality picture with low power consumption.
- Optical Picture Control (OPC). OPC automatically adjusts the screen brightness according to the ambient room brightness. This is not only eco-friendly, since it leads to greater conservation of energy, but also makes the picture more easy on the eyes.
- No-Signal Off / No-Operation Off . The TV automatically switches into standby mode to reduce power consumption if there is no signal for 15 minutes, or no operation for a preset time, such as 30 minutes or three hours.
