Lamb Meatball Pita with Mint Yoghurt Sauce

  • 500g lean lamb mince
  • 1 red onion, diced
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • ½ bunch coriander, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • Salt and pepper to season

Mint Yoghurt Sauce:

  • 1 cup plain Greek yoghurt
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • ¼ cup mint, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to season

Pita Bread:

  • 4 pita breads, halved
  • Salad


1)  Preheat the microwave oven to 200°C.

2)  In a large bowl combine all of the meatball ingredients well. Roll into 20 meatballs.

3)  Line the high rack with foil. Spray the foil with some olive oil to prevent the meatballs from sticking.

4)  Place the meatballs onto the lined rack and bake for 20 minutes or until the meatballs are cooked through.

5)  In the meantime combine the mint yoghurt sauce ingredients in a bowl. Mix well and store in the refrigerator until needed.

6)  Fill each Pita bread with salad and meatballs. Serve the mint yoghurt sauce on the side to ensure that the pita bread doesn’t go soggy.
