Sharp celebrates 40 years of innovation with three new Colour MFD’s

In 1972, Sharp Corporation proudly unveiled their first photocopier, a wet-type electrostatic copier. Forty years on and multiple world-first and industry-first products later, Sharp are celebrating four decades of copier innovation by introducing three new colour workgroup document systems – the MX-3640N, MX-3140N, and MX-2640N.

Designed for small to medium sized organisations, the three next-generation models employ intuitive user interfaces and touchscreen functionality which allow even first-time users to navigate the systems with ease.

Boasting a tilting 10.1-inch colour LCD touchscreen, each of the new models are controlled by flick, drag and tap commands. With the addition of newly added multi-touch operation, two-finger pinch and spread gestures facilitate web browsing and make it easy to shrink and enlarge images in advanced preview – a feature which enables users to check the document finishes prior to printing.

Not only easy to use, the Sharp document systems are also designed to provide exceptional performance and productivity day after day. All models boast enhanced copy/print speeds – up to 26 ppm on the MX-2640N, up to 31 ppm on the MX-3140N, and up to 36 ppm on the MX-3640N. Combined with true 1,200 x 1,200 DPI resolution, the three new models can save businesses time and money by producing professional colour documents in-house.

Mark Beard, National Marketing Manager at Sharp Corporation of Australia, said the three new models exemplify what the Sharp copier business has stood for over the past 40 years.

“From humble beginnings in the early 70s, the Sharp copier business has always been about responding to the changing needs of the business world – printing, copying, scanning, faxing, emailing, web browsing – and the three new document systems are no different.

“Each new model has been designed to respond to today’s work styles. Not only are they intuitive, fast, and powerful, with the addition of Sharpdesk Mobile they also respond to the mobile needs of businesses,” Beard said.

By installing Sharpdesk Mobile software, the MX-3640N, MX-3140N, and MX-2640N copiers make conducting business on the go easier than ever. A mobile print/scan application that combines the convenience of mobile devices and the efficiency of Sharp document systems, Sharpdesk Mobile allows users to send scanned documents to a mobile device1 to preview and save. Conversely, documents saved on a mobile device can be printed through the document systems or sent as email attachments.

The new Sharp colour document systems are also environmentally friendly, with Sharp having applied advanced technologies across all areas of the units from hardware, software, electrical systems, to supplies. As a result, all models boast a low consumption rate and comply with the International Energy Star® program, RoHS.
